The Hoes are... Successful?
We know, we know. It's been a while since we've blogged. But forgive us! We've been busy girls. Every day we're making moves, completing presentations, publishing papers, hosting events, and winning awards. For our house of nine, we've made a pretty big impact on the Canisius community.
So with the semester, as well as our time as college students, coming to a close, let's run through some of those accomplishments for fun! And trust me, as more time frees up for this scribe, there will be more posts to come before commencement. Let the fun times begin!
Sam
Sam has also been busy carrying the English department on her back. She has also been known to make a lot of people cry over the last few weeks. Her poetry reading at Ignation Scholarship Day drew a small but meaningful crowd, and everybody cried. Her reading at the Quadrangle unveiling drew an enormous crowd, and everybody cried as well! And two other of her works were published in the magazine in which she was an executive editor of. She also read aloud her poetry from her poetry writing class at a lovely event in the Writing Center.
Lanie
Lanie has been girl-bossing it the last few weeks. You've probably been able to find her at any Canisius event in the last few weeks that's given awards and honors out. To start, she finished her honors thesis and presentation on the history of stained glass, and also shared some incredible pieces she made herself. The presentation was incredible, and she had the whole (quite large) audience captivated. And not to mention, she made some pretty incredible stained glass pieces--- one of which she gave to her boss Matt! She was also honored at the leadership awards ceremony with an award for her role on campus ministry, leading service trips and being freaking awesome.
Bri
Bri also finished her honors thesis! The amount of work that goes into writing a thesis is nothing to brush off, and Bri did hers on a topic that is both meaningful and impactful. With some last-minute cramming, Bri submitted and presented her thesis on maternal mortality, and slayed! Caitlin and Hannah, who were able to go to her defense said that she nailed the presentation, picked a fascinating topic, and handled the question and answer portion extremely well. Congrats Bri!
Julia
Julia has been busy. From running The Griffin to being published in Quadrangle, she's had a crazy few weeks attending events and ceremonies. She was honored at the Communication Department Awards for excellence in journalism as well as commitment to the student newspaper, and she was giving an award for club leadership at the awards ceremony! But what means the most is being able to share her work with the community, whether it's through her Griffin articles or her pieces in the literary magazine.
But don't worry everyone, we're still the messy and chaotic hoeghes you all know and love. With that being said... our Griff Fest was quite the experience...
Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
